History

The Liberty Head design for the Quarter Eagle Gold Coin was the longest-used and was struck for 68 years. While the denomination was issued every year during this period, certain mints did not contribute for the entirety of the program. No Liberty Quarter Eagles were struck by the New Orleans Mint after 1857, the Dahlonega Mint after 1859, the Charlotte Mint after 1860, or the San Francisco Mint after 1879.
