The Australian Kangaroo Gold Coin can be traced back to the Australian Nugget from 1986. After first featuring a gold nugget on the reverse, the design was updated to feature a kangaroo in 1990.

Australian Kangaroo Gold Coins, like other annual releases from The Perth Mint, feature a unique image of the animal in each new release. The obverse, regardless of the year of issue, always showcases the effigy of the reigning British monarch. In 2024, King Charles III made his appearance on the obverse.

Gold coins in the series can range from 1/20 oz all the way up to 1 kilogram (32.15 Troy oz) coins. However, the more popular options in this series are the coins that range from 1 oz to 1/20 oz.

Perth Mint Gold Bars

The Perth Mint makes gold bars in an array of sizes from 1 Gram to 1 Kilogram. In most cases, minted ingots will arrive individually sealed with an assay card confirming the authenticity of the gold bar. Included with this is a serial number and the signature of the chief assayer.

Perth Mint Gold Bars typically include identifying information about the bar, including the Perth Mint logo, on one side. The reverse can range from blank design fields to a repeating kangaroo pattern.
