Arguably the most popular coin design in American history, the Double Eagle Gold Coin featured a revolutionary front-facing bust of Lady Liberty. More than just a portrait of her face, this design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens incorporated the entire figure of Liberty in a design never before seen in American coining history. Provident Metals currently has certified Pre-33 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins available to you for purchase online.

Obverse
On the obverse face of Pre-33 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coins is a depiction of Lady Liberty in front-facing relief. She is shown here walking away from Washington D.C. with the US Capitol Building visible in the distance at her feet. Rays of sunshine emerge from behind her figure as a ring of stars encircles the entire design element.
Reverse
The reverse side of the Pre-33 $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin features the American bald eagle. Here, the eagle is shown gliding in flight over the sun as it rises at the bottom of the coin design field.
History
The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin design was the final image depicted on the obverse of the $20 Double Eagle. It was used from 1907 to 1933 with minor design variations. The obverse originally included a circle of just 46 stars from 1907 to 1911 as this reflects the number of states in the Union at the time. In 1912, two more stars were added for the admission of Arizona and New Mexico to the Union. The reverse did not feature the national motto In God We Trust in 1907, but did from 1908 to 1933.
