Very similar to the Liberty Coronet design from the US Eagle denominations, this bust of Liberty is surrounded by 13 stars and features a coronet crown on her head. It was designed by James B. Longacre.

Reverse

The reverse face of Pre-33 $1 Liberty Gold Coins in the Type 1 release has the denomination and a wreath marked on this side. The coins show only the denomination and date mark in the center with a wreath surrounding and the nation of issue marked.
