Renowned worldwide, Canadian Gold Maple Leafs rank among the best-selling gold bullion coins and hold the distinction of being the market’s second oldest series. Surpassed only by the Krugerrand from the South African Mint, this series experienced a crucial turning point in 1982 with the introduction of 24-karat gold purity. Today, you have the opportunity to get Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coin Tubes online from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins debuted in 1979 with only 1 oz gold coins available. Expansion of the series took place over the course of 30 years, with 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins added in 1982, 1/2 oz gold coins in 1986, 1/20 oz gold coins in 1993, and 1 Gram gold coins in 2014.
Obverse
In this tube, all Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins bear the obverse portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. These coins exhibit three different effigies of the Queen. The first design, created by Arnold Machin, was used on coins until 1989. From 1990 to 2004, the second design, by Dora de Pedery-Hunt, was utilized. Since 2005, the third design, by Susanna Blunt, has been the chosen portrait.
Reverse
Inside this tube, Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins feature the reverse image of a sugar maple leaf. Designed by Walter Ott in 1979 for the Gold Maple, this representation of a natural sugar maple leaf has been faithfully reproduced on the silver, platinum, and palladium iterations of the coin.
History
The initial release of the Maple Leaf coins not only featured only 1 oz gold coins, but also a lower metal fineness. While all coins in this listing have 24-karat gold, the series initially offered .999 pure gold from 1979 to November 1982.
