Burnished American Eagle Gold Coins were produced by the United States Mint starting in 2006. From 2006 to 2008, the series offered 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold coins. In 2009 when the US Mint suspended the Burnished American Eagle Gold Coins, the resumption of the coin collection in 2011 included only the 1 oz coin. During the period that all four coins were issued, the US Mint produced the coins for individual purchase and in four-coin sets.

Obverse

Lady Liberty is shown on the obverse of the Burnished American Eagle Gold Coins. The coins in this set all feature the Augustus Saint-Gaudens design of Liberty that was used on the $20 Gold Double Eagle from 1907 to 1933. The design features Liberty with a ring of 50 stars around her figure, rays of sunshine framing her from behind, a torch held out in her right hand the light the way, and an olive branch in her left to symbolize a peaceful future.

Reverse

American bald eagles are featured in the reverse design of the Burnished American Eagle Gold Coins. This image depicts a family nest with a female eagle guarding over a young hatchling as a male eagle flies over the nest.
