Dating back to the 1892 introduction of the Barber Coinage by the United States Mint, no design on the US half-dollar silver coin had such a short run as the Benjamin Franklin Half Dollar. The Franklin Half Dollar replaced the popular Walking Liberty design and was itself replaced by the current Kennedy Half Dollar design. Today, you have the chance to get a $10 face value bulk of 90% Franklin Silver Half Dollars from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
90% Franklin Silver Half Dollar coins were slightly controversial when the first designs were unveiled. Because of Franklins close association with the first defacto capital of the American Colonies, Philadelphia, the Liberty Bell was chosen to feature on the reverse of his design. However, American law stated that the American bald eagle had to feature on circulation coins. As a result, a modified design was developed in time for the release of the coins that represented a compromise.
Obverse
The obverse design field of 90% Franklin Silver Half Dollars features a design from John R. Sinnock. Created in 1948, the image is that of Founding Father Benjamin Franklin in left-profile relief. Inscriptions include Liberty, In God We Trust, and a date mark off the chin of Franklin.
Reverse
On the reverse face of 90% Franklin Silver Half Dollars features the Liberty Bell with its infamous crack depicted. The bell dominates the center of the design field and you will notice there is a small heraldic eagle to the right. This was a compromise made to ensure that the Liberty bell remained on the coin while aligning with legislation dictating the appearance of the American eagle on all coins. Inscriptions include United States of America, Half Dollar, and E Pluribus Unum.
History
90% Franklin Silver Half Dollar Coins feature 90% silver content and 10% copper content. The coins were issued from 1948, when the Walking Liberty design was replaced, until 1963 to make way for an effigy of the recently assassinated President John F. Kennedy.

"My third time ordering these from Provident. I received a roll of 20 1958 coins. Most have some cloudy areas, but still have good luster and cartwheeling. Previously I got all 1963's so it was nice to get a different date, despite all being the same. The sale price was excellent, would buy again in the future."

"The roll contained a mix of coins from the 1950s-1960s. All in BU condition. I only wish I bought more than two rolls."

"Full roll of BU 1963-D coins. Two of them had fingerprints on the obverse. Would have been nice to get more than one date-mm. Still worth buying at this price."

"Received all 1963 coins. Only a couple had some toning issues. Would have liked a greater variety of dates, but I understand. Would buy again."
