Le Semeuse is widely regarded as the inspiration for Adolph A. Weinmans Walking Liberty. The design that now features on the obverse side of the American Eagle Silver Coin first appeared on the US Half Dollar in 1916. Weinmans left-profile effigy of Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon bears a striking resemblance to Le Semeuse, or the Sower. For example, both allegorical figures are wearing a Phrygian cap.
