Discover the heritage of the American Eagle Gold Coins, inspired by the $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle Gold Coin from 1907. The enduring appeal of this design, originating from Augustus Saint-Gaudens under the commission of Theodore Roosevelt, has solidified its place as the face of these coins since their introduction in 1986. While the reverse field initially depicted a family of bald eagles from 1986 to 2021, the latest Jennie Norris design has taken its place from the latter half of 2021 onwards.
