Obverse
On the obverse of the 2024 American Eagle Gold Coins, you’ll find a forward-facing portrayal of Liberty, holding a torch and an olive branch. She is surrounded by stars and sun rays on the horizon, with the U.S. Capitol Building also featured in the design. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, 2024, and the ASG signature mark.
Reverse
For the reverse side of the 2024 Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin, a fresh design by Jennie Norris captures the natural grace of the American bald eagle. This left-profile image of the eagle’s head was introduced in mid-2021. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 5 DOLLARS, and 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD.
History
The obverse of the American Gold Eagles proudly displays a historic design. The image of Lady Liberty gracing the coin was originally crafted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907 at the request of President Theodore Roosevelt for the $20 Double Eagle. Saint-Gaudens’ design is often considered one of the most beautiful representations of Liberty in American history.
