History
These 2022 Memorial Sovereign Gold Coins are the first in the Sovereign range to include the new portrait of King Charles III. This left-profile relief follows the tradition of male monarch portraits in lacking a crown and follows the broader tradition of flipping each monarchs portrait orientation. While his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was captured in right-profile relief throughout her 70-year reign, King Charles III will feature in left-profile relief.
