The design shows the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The background field includes a variety of coral and other underwater plant life. Reverse

A massive whale shark swims through the waters of the Pacific Ocean in the reverse design of 2021 Reverse Proof Solomon Islands Giants of the Galapagos Whale Shark Shaped 1 oz Silver Coin. The whale sharks frame is colorized with a blue-gray skin tint and is so large that it extends beyond the traditional circular rim of the coin. Its snout and tail fin are featured extending beyond the rim, to be specific. The inscriptions on this side read Giants of the Galapagos Islands and 999.9 Silver 1 Troy Ounce.

History

The whale shark is one of the worlds largest filter feeders. The shark has as many as 300 rows of tiny teeth in its mouth and 20 filter pads. It uses these teeth and filter pads to filter through water and capture plankton and other fish to sustain its massive weight and length.
