History

The HMS Bounty was built in the shipyards of Blaydes Yard, Hull, Yorkshire, England, in 1784. The ship was originally christened as the Bethia and served three years as a merchant vessel for a private company before being sold to the Royal Navy. On its maiden voyage for the Royal Navy to the island of Tahiti, the crew of the Bounty launched a mutiny that resulted in the crew eventually burning and sinking the Bounty off Pitcairn Island.
