Reverse

On the reverse face of 2020 Reverse Proof Solomon Islands Giants of the Galapagos Seahorse Shaped Silver Coins is the colorized image of a Giant Seahorse. The yellow seahorse has the typical S-shape of a seahorse. The Giant Seahorse, or Pacific Seahorse, is the only species of seahorse known to inhabit the waters around the Galapagos Islands. Inscriptions on this side include Giants of the Galapagos and 999.9 Fine Silver 1 Troy Ounce.

History

The Giant Seahorse is the first issue in the new Giants of the Galapagos Series, a three-coin collection of shaped silver coins. These coins are not cut in the exact shape of the animals represented, but do have images on the reverse that extend beyond the typical circular field of a silver bullion coin and add colorization to bring the designs to life.
