Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of all 2020 Proof British Music Legends Queen Coins. This is the fifth-generation portrait of the Queen to feature on British currency and was designed by 2015 by Jody Clark. Mr. Clark is the youngest British artist ever to create the monarchs effigy for British currency. This right-profile bust of the Queen shows her at the age of 89 with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head.
Reverse
Musical instruments used by the band Queen are shown on the reverse of 2020 Proof British Music Legends Queen Coins. In this design approved by remaining band members May and Taylor, two guitars are featured along with a drum, keyboard, and microphone stand. The bands name is featured on this side of the coin as well.
History
Queen remained intact as a four-man group until 1986 when Freddie Mercury retired due to complications from AIDS, complications that would claim his life just five years later. John Deacon would later retire in 1997 leaving just May and Taylor as original members. The Music Legends Series from the Royal Mint debuts with the Queen design and includes 1 oz gold, 1/4 oz gold, and 1 oz silver proof options as well.
