The Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with a proof-like finish can be found on the obverse. Inscriptions note the year of issue, denomination, purity, and weight.
The reverse features Iron Man flying in his Mark 46 suit, with an outstretched arm. Iron Man first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1963. The character was created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby in response to the Cold War.
The man behind the mask is named Tony Stark, and he is an ingenious scientist and inventor. After being forced to build weaponry for his kidnappers, Stark creates a powered armor suit to escape. He then better developed the suit’s technology and donned it to protect the world as Iron Man. Robert Downey Jr. has famously portrayed the character in a number of movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The officially Marvel/Disney licensed Silver Iron Man coin comes after the successful release of the Silver Spider-Man coin, Silver Thor coin, and Silver Black Panther coin, making it the fourth coin in their Marvel bullion series. The Iron Man coin will be produced with a limited mintage of 50,000.
The small oceanic country of Tuvalu is located between Australia and Hawaii. The Polynesian island is part of the British Commonwealth. All coins in this Marvel series are struck by the Perth Mint and issued by Tuvalu.
