The Black Bull of Clarence is just one of the ten heraldic beasts to be featured on coins in the Queens Beast Series from the Royal Mint. The bull is often associated with King Edward IV. While the Black Bull of Clarence has been used by families both before and after Edward IVs reign, he is responsible for using this animal as a symbol and including the image in a larger way. Right now, you can purchase a 2018 British Queens Beast Black Bull 1/4 oz Gold Coin in MS69 condition from Provident Metals with an NGC label.

The obverse of all Royal Mint Queens Beast coins features the 2015 right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This image was created by Jody Clark, making him the youngest engraver to ever design the Queens effigy at the age of 33. This fifth-generation design shows Her Majesty at age 89.

On the reverse face of the coins is the image of the Black Bull of Clarence. The Bull stands tall on its hind legs behind the Royal Arms used by Edward IV and the other kings who came before and after his rule. Edward IV wasnt the only royal to use the bull as a symbol. In fact, his younger brother Richard III also used the bull in his Royal Arms.

The Royal Shield featured in the Royal Arms that features the Black Bull of Clarence has four quarters. The upper-right and lower-left quadrants both showcase three heraldic golden Lions of England. The upper-left and bottom-right quadrants contain the golden lilies of France, which were added by Edward III to support his claim to France.
