History

The Perth Mint opened its doors in 1899 and has since become a leader in the precious metals world. In 1987, the mint launched arguably its most iconic series with the release of the Kangaroo coin. Since then, the mint has issued a new Kangaroo design each year. In 1991, Perth began a special line of gold Kangaroos, that included the 10 oz, 2 oz, and kilo versions. The 10 oz was minted from 1991 until 2009.
