Highlights
Obverse
The 1993 American Eagle Gold Coin includes the inscriptions LIBERTY and 1993 on the obverse. The obverse design is a true classic in Americana coinage. It’s the Augustus Saint-Gaudens image of Lady Liberty walking forward in front of the United States capitol building. The image was originally designed for use on gold eagle coins in the early 20th century and has been restored for use in the modern American Eagle Program. In the image, Liberty is stepping boldly forth into a new day, carrying her torch to illuminate the path to freedom. She holds an olive branch in her other hand symbolizing peace.
Reverse
The reverse of this coin is filled with numerous inscriptions. They read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/4 OZ FINE GOLD, and 10 DOLLARS. The image itself was designed by Miley Busiek Frost and features a family of eagles and their nest. The female eagle and young are in the nest, and the male eagle is shown flying nearby. He’s bringing an olive branch back to the nest.
Packaging
The 1993 American Eagle Gold Coin ships in a protective plastic flip. You can use the clear flip for storing or showing the coin if desired to continue to protect it.
History
The American Eagle Program launched in 1986 and is one of the most popular coin programs in the United States. The program originally included silver and gold coins; platinum coins have since been added. For the first 25 years of the program, the obverse and reverse designs remained the same, so you’ll find Saint-Gaudens’ and Frost’s images on all the gold coins in the program from 1986 through 2020.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
