Obverse
On the obverse side of Silver Sacred Heart Rounds, you will find a beautiful interpretation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This design shows a heart at the center with blood flowing in the lower left from a piercing wound, while flames emerge from the top. Through those flames, a Catholic cross emerges with a crown of thorns around the heart.
Reverse
The reverse field of the 1 oz Silver Sacred Heart Round comes with a depiction of the Intaglio Mint logo. The mint logo features a column-like I with inscription of INTAGLIO MINT. Other inscriptions on this side include ONE TROY OUNCE and .999 FINE SILVER. The field comes with a beaded border around the logo and a swirling pattern in the background field.
History
Though the Christian church is more than one thousand years oldl, the practice of the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is much younger. It is often credited to a French nun by the name of Margaret Mary Alacoque. She is said to have learned the devotion from Jesus Christ himself in a series of apparitions that appeared to her between 1673 and 1675.
