The United States Quarter has been in production at the United States Mint since 1796 with periodic breaks in coining. At this point in history, the longest-running design is that of George Washington on the modern quarter. Introduced in 1932, it features Washingtons bust on the obverse and the eagle on the reverse that features in this copper round. Provident Metals currently offers the 1 oz Copper US Quarter Round to you for purchase online.
Highlights:
When you purchase a 1 oz Copper US Quarter Round in this product listing, you receive a specimen that is in brand-new condition from the mint. Obverse
The obverse side of 1 oz Copper US Quarter Rounds includes the image of the heraldic eagle of the United States. On the original designs of the US Quarter, a heraldic eagle featured that showed the entire bird with its wings flexed at its side and no US national shield on its chest. The bird clutches a sheaf of arrows with an olive branch below. The words United States of America are inscribed at the top of the design rocker.
Reverse
On the reverse face of the 1 oz Copper US Quarter Round is a depiction of a different type of heraldic eagle. This design includes only a set of wings with a US national shield at the center. This unique shield has three stars on it with a central star that emerges from the shield with its highest star cresting the top of the shield. Also included on this side of the copper round are design elements of the American flag and the initials USA.
History
The US Quarter has been intermittently produced with new images by the United States Mint throughout the course of national history. Introduced in 1796, it was issued for one year and then halted for nearly a decade. After coining took place between 1804 and 1807, a 13-year hiatus ended when the coin returned in 1815 and was struck until 1828. The quarter was then issued from 1830 to 1930 and, most recently, from 1932 to the present.
