About Engelhard

Engelhard has over a century of history in the precious metals industry. They opened their doors in 1902 in Newark, New Jersey. Engelhard got their start by smelting and refining platinum for commercial use. They quickly became one of the world’s largest refiners and fabricators of gold, silver, and platinum.

Engelhard was bought out by a German chemicals company known as BASF in 2006 for $5 billion.
