When the Engelhard Company introduced the Engelhard Prospector Series to the general public in 1982, the US silver industry experienced a sort of renaissance. This was the first silver bullion round to ever be marketed to the US community of collectors and investors. It was an instant hit! Today, Provident Metals offers you the 1 oz Silver 1986 Prospector Round (Eagle Reverse design)!

Round Highlights:

  • Arrives to you in a protective plastic flip!
  • Issued in 1986 by Engelhard!
  • Limited mintage of 50,000 rounds!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
  • Obverse depicts a prospector panning for Gold
  • Reverse displays the reverse image of an American Bald Eagle.

This gorgeous silver bullion round marks the fifth release of the popular Engelhard Prospector Series! This established the collection as one of the most long-running series in the United States of America. When silver prices began to rise to $50 an ounce, the largest of silver refiners, like Handy &Harman, Johnson-Matthey, and Engelhard set on a journey to produce some of the most elegant silver bar products of their time. However, with the arrival of 1982, Engelhard struck gold with the Prospectors that dominated the silver market with no competition at all.

For the obverse of the 1 oz Silver 1986 Prospector Round, the contradictory but legendary image of a Prospector is engraved. Commonly, a prospector is someone who digs for the most gorgeous of natural minerals like gold. Yet here on the surface of a silver round, you will see the design of an old man looking for such. The inscriptions on this side of the round include: U.S.A 1986, and The American Prospector. A circle of beads surrounds the whole design.

For the reverse of the 1 oz Silver 1986 Prospector Round, the image of an American Eagle is engraved. Unlike other silver products in production, the design of the Eagle is reversed. It depicts an American Eagle in flight while it clutches onto a branch. It wings spread far out while it engulfs the majority of the round with its size and magnificence. The inscriptions on this side of the round include: Engelhard, and One Troy Ounce 999+Fine Silver. The outer rim of the round is decorated with a beaded circle like the obverse.
