Brief History
Walking Liberty half dollar junk silver coins were the first legal tender coins in the U.S. that didn't have a uniform design, beginning with nickels, dimes and quarters. The Walking Liberty replaced the very unpopular, and often ridiculed, Barber half dollar. The obverse (front) design of the Walking Liberty was so popular it became the design for American Eagle silver bullion coins years later.
