Obverse

The obverse face of the Royal Australian Mint 1/10 oz Lunar Gold Coin bears an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Many of these coins will feature the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II created in 1998 and used on Australian coins from 1999 to 2019. Coins issued from 2020 onward will feature the sixth-generation effigy of the Queen created in 2015 by Jody Clark.

Reverse

On the reverse side of RAM 1/10 oz Lunar Gold Coins are varying images of the animals from the Zodiac. The Chinese Lunar Calendar features 12 animals in a repeating cycle that always starts with the Year of the Mouse and concludes with the Year of the Pig. Each animal is featured for just one date mark at a time, with the animals repeating each time it appears again on the calendar. For example, the Year of the Ox designs would appear on 2009 and 2021 coins.
