The $10 Liberty Gold Eagle, first introduced in 1838, stands as one of the longest-running coins in American history, circulating until 1907. This coin series features iconic designs that have left a lasting mark on US numismatics. Right now, Pre-33 $10 Liberty Eagle Gold Coins in About Uncirculated condition are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each Pre-33 $10 Liberty Eagle Gold Coin in this offer is in About Uncirculated 50 condition, meaning there is slight wear on the highest points of the design, but the coin still has much of its original luster. The exact year and design of the coin cannot be guaranteed, and if you order more than one, a mix of dates and designs may be included.
Obverse
The obverse side of these Pre-33 $10 Liberty Eagle Gold Coins shows a left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty, designed by Christian Gobrecht, the 3rd Chief Engraver of the US Mint. This portrait is encircled by 13 stars, representing the original colonies, with the date positioned below. Inscriptions include only LIBERTY and the date mark.
Reverse
On the reverse, the $10 Liberty Eagle Gold Coins feature the heraldic eagle, a symbol of the United States. The eagle is shown with a shield on its chest, clutching arrows, and an olive branch, symbolizing both war and peace. For the Type II coins, the national motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” is displayed on a banner above the eagle. Inscriptions here include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, TEN D., and IN GOD WE TRUST, on select dates.
History
Liberty Gold Eagles were minted by the US Mint from 1838 to 1907, featuring two main reverse designs. Coins struck from 1838 to 1866 do not have the national motto. After the Civil War, the US Mint added the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” to the reverse starting in late 1866, continuing with this design until 1907.
