Its long history as a versatile and durable material has ensured its enduring importance in society. Since 2009, copper rounds have grown in popularity with investors and also grown in terms of the variety of designs available to both investors and collectors.
As you shop for 1 oz copper rounds at Provident Metals, the most important factor to keep in mind is the weight of copper rounds. Copper rounds are not measured in the traditional Troy ounce weight of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. Instead, copper rounds are measured in the same manner as grain, flour, and sugar: using Avoirdupois (AVDP) ounces.
Using Grams as a common base measurement of weight, you’ll find that 1 Troy oz is equivalent to 31.1035 Grams, while 1 AVDP oz is equivalent to 28.3495 Grams. Simply put, 1 Troy oz is heavier than 1 AVDP oz. Though it seems like a negligible difference, it’s important to know the difference because this difference in weight and volume can add up in larger purchases.
