Chinese Panda Gold Coins debuted in 1982 from the Chinese Mint. The series debuted that year with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz coins. In 1983, a 1/20 oz gold coin was added to round out the series at five coins in total. The series used Troy oz weights from 1982 to 2015 before switching to Grams as the official unit of measurement marked on the coins.

Obverse

History

Chinese Panda 1/20 oz Gold Coins were replaced in 2016 by the Chinese Panda 1 Gram Gold Coins. The coin maintained the same 20 Yuan face value as its predecessor, with the weight dropping from 1.5552 Grams to an even 1 Gram and the diameter shrinking more noticeably from 13.92 mm to 10 mm.
