The Chinese Panda Gold Series from the Chinese Mint debuted in 1982, making it one of the oldest modern bullion collections. Only the South African Krugerrand Gold Coin and Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin have been available to investors longer. Since 2016, the familiar coins of the Chinese Panda Gold Series have been available with Gram weights rather than Troy oz. Today, you have the chance to get Chinese Panda 1 Gram Gold Coins online at Provident Metals.
Chinese Panda Gold Coins debuted in 1982 from the Chinese Mint. The series debuted that year with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz coins. In 1983, a 1/20 oz gold coin was added to round out the series at five coins in total. The series used Troy oz weights from 1982 to 2015 before switching to Grams as the official unit of measurement marked on the coins.
On the obverse side of Chinese Panda 1 Gram Gold Panda Coins is the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. The exterior of the building is featured on this side along with inscriptions of the nation of issue in Mandarin and the date mark denoting the year of release. This structure, the largest in the Temple of Heaven Complex, appears on the obverse of the Chinese Panda Gold Coins each year.
The reverse face of Chinese Panda 1 Gram Gold Coins includes a design representing the Giant Panda bear species. The bears are native to the central highlands of China and are easily recognizable because of the alternating patches of black-and-white fur on the bodies.
Chinese Panda 1/20 oz Gold Coins were replaced in 2016 by the Chinese Panda 1 Gram Gold Coins. The coin maintained the same 20 Yuan face value as its predecessor, with the weight dropping from 1.5552 Grams to an even 1 Gram and the diameter shrinking more noticeably from 13.92 mm to 10 mm.
These Chinese Panda 1 Gram Gold Coins are available unsealed from the original Chinese Mint packaging, but still offered inside of protective plastic flips. The coins are chosen for you from random years based on availability in our warehouse at the time your payment is processed. Date marks range from 2016 to the present. We are unable to accommodate requests for specific dates or designs, and likewise cannot guarantee what dates and designs you may receive when buying multiples.
