The Chinese Panda Gold Bullion Series is one of the worlds longest-running and most popular gold bullion collections. Introduced in 1982, it is older than the likes of the American Eagle, British Britannia, Austrian Philharmonic, and Australian Kangaroo. In fact, the only coins older than the Chinese Panda are the South African Krugerrand and Canadian Maple Leaf. Today, you have the chance to purchase near-perfect Chinese Panda 1/2 oz Gold Coins online from Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives with protective plastic slabs courtesy of the PCGS or NGC!
  • Comes with random date marks!
  • Varied labels in the slabs are possible!
  • Limited number of certified near-perfect gold coins!
  • Contains 1/2 Troy oz of .999 pure gold.
  • The face value is either 50 or 200 Yuan depending on date.
  • Graded Mint State 69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service or the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.

With your purchase of the Chinese Panda 1/2 oz Gold Coin available in this Provident Metals listing, you will receive a coin that is in near-perfect condition. Mint State 69 specimens exhibit full, original mint luster and come with no more than two minor detracting flaws present. These flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be outside the primary focal points of the coin.

In this listing, these Chinese Panda Gold Coins feature possible dates of 1982 to 2015 only, with face values of 50 Yuan for coins dated 1982-2000 and face values of 200 Yuan for coins dated 2001-2015. Please note that dates, designs, and labels are all determined at random based on our available inventory when your payment clears.

Obverse

On the obverse of Chinese Panda 1/2 oz Gold Coins is an image of the Temple of Heaven Complex. Specifically, this design features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This design has featured on the coins every year since 1982.

Reverse

The reverse side of the Chinese Panda Gold Coin comes with an image of the Giant Panda. The Chinese Mint features the Giant Panda on this side of the coin every year, but offers a new design of the panda for each date mark. The only matching dates are 2001 and 2002, with the 2002 coin repeating the design from the previous year.

History

In 2016, the Chinese Mint shifted away from Troy oz in this series and marked the coins in Grams instead. The 1/2 oz gold coin became the 15 Gram gold coin, offering a matching diameter and thickness, but with a slightly lower weight in Troy oz than the previous 1/2 oz coin.
