Mint State 70 grades mean the coin exhibits full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws visible on the design elements and background fields. Please note that some of these coins may have the NGC’s alternative NGCX grading scale from 1-10, with 10 representing a perfect coin similar to the MS70 grade. You can learn more about the NGCX grading scale on the NGC website.

You could find additional labels with this listing such as Early Release or First Day of Issue labels indicating the arrival of the coins at the grading house for certification. Those labels are not guaranteed, however.

Obverse

On the obverse of American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold coins, you will find the image of Lady Liberty. This front-facing vision of Liberty depicted here was created in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and featured on the $20 Gold Double Eagle until 1933. The design depicts Liberty with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.

Reverse

The reverse field of American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold coins comes with a family of American bald eagles. This exclusive design from Miley Busiek was created in 1986 and features a male eagle flying over the nest as a female sits perched in the nest with a young hatchling.
