Known as Liberty gazing into the future, the image shows Libertys face as she gazes toward the distance and her right hand stretches out of view of the design holding up her iconic torch. You can see many of the points of her crown in the design as well.

Reverse

The reverse face of American Eagle Platinum Coins comes with a design from Thomas D. Rogers. A former engraver-sculptor at the United States Mint, Rogers created this image of an American bald eagle soaring over the continent as the sun rises in the background. It features on the reverse of the bullion American Eagle Platinum Coin each year and was on the reverse of the proof versions in 1997 and 2017.

History

American Eagle Platinum Coins debuted in 1997 with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz coins available in both Brilliant Uncirculated and proof versions. 2008 was the last time that fractional-ounce coins were available in either version of the coin.
