The current bust of President George Washington found on the obverse of the US Quarter has been in production since 1932. Though some of the inscriptions have been changed on each side over the course of time, the bust of Washington has remained stable on the obverse with each passing decade. Provident Metals currently offers a $500 Face Value lot of 90% Silver Washington Quarters for online purchasing.
Highlights:
When you purchase $500 Face Value bags of 90% Silver Washington Quarters, you will receive a total of 2,000 US Quarters in the plastic bag. Each one of the quarters features 90% silver and 10% copper for durability. The coins will feature only those date marks from 1932 to 1964 and the bag you receive is likely to contain a wide variety of different date marks from this range.
Obverse
President George Washington is depicted on the obverse of 90% Silver Washington Quarters. President Washington is shown here in left-profile relief in a design based on a bust of the president created in 1786. John Flanagan created this portrait of President Washington for the US Quarter in 1932 and also created the reverse design. Inscriptions on this face of the coin include Liberty, In God We Trust, and a date mark.
Reverse
An American bald eagle is featured in the reverse design of the 90% Silver Washington Quarters. Flanagans design of the bald eagle is based on the heraldic eagle of the United States, but features without the national heraldic shield. The bird looks to the left as it clutches a sheaf of arrows in its talons. Two olive branches intersect below the sheaf of arrows. Inscriptions include United States of America, E Pluribus Unum, and Quarter Dollar. Below the intersection of the olive branches is a mint mark. Though the coins were produced by all four modern US Mint locations, only those from the Denver Mint, San Francisco Mint, and West Point Mint have mint marks. Philadelphia Mint coins have no mint mark.
History
Washington Quarters are still in production today, but only those coins issued in 1964 and prior to that year have 90% silver content. Starting in 1965, the US Mint used a new cupro-nickel alloy that was more affordable and durable for circulation.
