History

Italia turrita is based on the deity of fertility known as Cybele. She came into popular design use during the Second Punic War between 218 and 202 BC. During the early 1^st century BC under the reign of Denarius, Italia turrita came into wider acceptance as a symbol of a unified, peaceful Italy under Roman rule after the Social War.
