Obverse

On the obverse side of 5 oz Platinum Fortuna Bars is the depiction of Fortuna in left-profile relief. The Roman goddess of fortune and a personification of good luck in Roman religion, Fortuna is shown here with a blindfold covering her eyes and the horn of plenty on her head. Otherwise known as the cornucopia, the horn of plenty winds down the surface of the bar getting larger until it opens at the bottom to spill a vast sum of platinum coins into the hands of Fortuna.

Reverse

The reverse face of the 50 oz Platinum Fortuna Bars includes a depiction of the PAMP logo along with identifying markers for the bar. The logo uses four circles at the top, one each for the letters in PAMP. The word Suisse is engraved below that. Other identifying markers include 5 Ounces, Platinum, 999,5, and the assayers mark. While the bar is assigned a certificate number on its assay, there is not a matching serial number on the bar itself.

History

Fortuna was a key figure in Roman mythology. She was often depicted with symbols that associate both the good and bad sides of luck and fortune. For example, a blindfold or veil is often used in the designs representing her character. This depicts the random chance and nature of luck. You may have good luck or you may have bad luck.
