Produced by the Mexican Mint, the oldest mint in the Western Hemisphere, Mexican Libertad bullion coins debuted in the 1980s. The series offers both gold and silver coins and takes design inspiration from the historic 1921 Gold Centenario. Right now, certified 2025 Mexican Libertad 1 Kilo Silver Coins are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2025 Mexican Libertad 1 Kilo Silver Coin offered here is sealed in a plastic slab for protection. These coins carry a Mint State 70 grade from the Professional Coin Grading Service, indicating a flawless appearance with full mint brilliance. While several 2025 Silver Libertads reached new lows in mintage, the 1 Kilo coin did not surpass its record. The lowest mintage for this size remains 200 coins, first seen in 2017 and matched again in 2022.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2025 Mexican Libertad Silver Coin, the modern coat of arms is shown. The design features a golden eagle standing on a prickly pear cactus, grasping a serpent with both its beak and talons. On silver coins of 1 oz and larger, ten earlier versions of the seal appear as well, arranged in a circle around the central image. Inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025 Libertad 1 Kilo Silver Coin highlights the Winged Victory design. Introduced to the series in 1996, this image shows Victory from a three-quarter angle as she stands on the Independence Victory Column in Mexico City. Inscriptions read 1 KG, PLATA PURA, 2025 LEY .999, and the Mo mint mark.
History
Mexican Libertad coins display the national coat of arms on the obverse side. This emblem traces its history to the 1534 Codex Mendoza, a document created during the Spanish colonial period to record Aztec traditions. The original artwork illustrates the legend of Tenochtitlan, with an eagle perched on a cactus growing from a rock while holding a snake in its beak.
