The 2025 Year of the Snake marks the sixth release in the Perth Mints Lunar Series III, featuring a brand-new design with King Charles III on the obverse. This release is significant as it introduces Dan Thornes portrait of the new King, replacing Queen Elizabeth II. Each 2025 Australian Lunar Snake 1/2 oz Silver Coin is offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The Perth Mint will continue minting these coins throughout 2025 to fulfill ongoing demand until the next lunar animal is featured. These coins are packaged individually in plastic capsules, in sealed rolls of 20, or in boxes of 100 coins with five rolls.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Australian Lunar Snake Silver Coin features King Charles III. This design, created by Dan Thorne, is the Kings first appearance in the Lunar Series and is depicted in left-profile without a crown. Inscriptions include CHARLES III, AUSTRALIA, 1/2 OZ 9999 AG, and 50 CENTS.
Reverse
The reverse side of 2025 Lunar Snake 1/2 oz Silver Coins showcases a coiled snake resting under branches and leaves. This design by Sean Rogers includes a natural backdrop with water and mountains, emphasizing the snake’s serene environment. The inscriptions include SNAKE, 2025, the Chinese emblem for the snake, and the P mint mark.
History
The Chinese zodiac, or Shengxiao, follows a 12-year cycle with each year assigned to an animal. The snake, the sixth animal in the cycle, is recognized in 2025, following its previous appearance in 2013.

In order to receive free shipping on purchases of $199 or more, you must live within the 50 US states. For orders less than $199, a $9.95 shipping fee applies. Most Provident orders are shipped within one (1) business day of your payment clearing. Payments made via PayPal clear instantly. Bitcoin payments clear instantly once the transaction is confirmed. Credit Card and bank wire payments process within 1 business day. ACH and paper check payments take 3-5 business days. Once payments are processed, products are released to fulfillment for packaging and shipping.
All orders of $199 or more that are eligible for free shipping are, by default, shipped via a carrier of our choice (USPS or UPS). Depending on the contents and size of your purchase, you may be able to upgrade to a specific carrier during checkout.
For those orders of $999.99 or less, there is no need to sign for your package. However, you may select the option to require a signature at delivery if you want. This can be chosen and paid for at checkout. All orders of $1000 or more require a signature to complete delivery.
