Embark on a historic journey in 2024 as the United States Mint and The Royal Mint unite for an unprecedented project. Past collaborations brought us dual-coin releases featuring Liberty and Britannia, as well as a celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower. Now, breaking new ground, the two mints have collaborated on a singular design. Introducing the 2024-W Proof Liberty & Britannia 1 oz Gold Coins, available now at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
With the release of the 2024-W Proof Liberty & Britannia 1 oz Gold Coins, the United States and the United Kingdom celebrate the depth of their historical ties. Packaged in US Mint presentation boxes and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, these coins mark the first time Liberty and Britannia have graced the same coin. US Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna brings Liberty to life, while Royal Mint Chief Engraver Gordon Summers captures Britannia’s essence.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2024-W Proof Liberty & Britannia Gold Coin presents allegorical figures of America and Britain in right-profile relief. Liberty holds a torch with stars adorning her hair, while Britannia, donning her iconic Corinthian helmet, wields a trident. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, 2024, Menna’s JM initials, and Summers’ GS initials.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2024-W Proof Liberty & Britannia 1 oz Gold Coins, a unique design by Joseph Menna depicts the sun rising over the Atlantic Ocean, flanked by a Bristlecone Pine representing America and an English Yew representing Britain. Inscriptions here read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY AND BRITANNIA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, AU 24 1 OZ, IN GOD WE TRUST, $100, and the W mint mark.
