Since 1986, the United States Mint has been producing American Silver Eagles. Originally released as BU and Proof coins, the series expanded in 2006 to include the Burnished Silver Eagle. Provident Metals is now offering the 2024-W Burnished American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins in pristine condition.
Highlights:
The Silver Eagles series celebrates two key American symbols: Lady Liberty and the bald eagle. Liberty, representing freedom and democracy, is depicted in Adolph A. Weinmans Walking Liberty design. This artwork first appeared on the US Half Dollar in 1916 and was revived in 1986 for the Silver Eagles.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2024-W Burnished Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins, Weinmans full-length image of Liberty is depicted. Liberty is shown in left-profile, carrying branches of oak and laurel, walking toward the sunrise with the American flag draped around her. Inscriptions include LIBERTY. 2024, IN GOD WE TRUST, and Weinman’s signature mark.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2024-W Burnished American Eagle Silver Coin features Damstras modern portrayal of the bald eagle. The eagle is shown in left-profile, swooping down while carrying an oak branch in its talons. The inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and 1 OZ. FINE SILVER.
History
The reverse side of the modern Silver Eagles features the second bald eagle design used in the series, introduced in 2021 by Emily Damstra. This design gives a natural view of the eagle. The bald eagle, chosen as the national emblem in 1792, symbolizes majesty, longevity, and strength.
