The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, originally created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, has become a cultural phenomenon, spanning comic books, television shows, movies, and more. The four turtles that make up the TMNT were supposed to be a one-off, however, their popularity led to more comic books being created.
