The dragon is a celebrated figure in Chinese mythology and culture. Deeply rooted in Chinese traditions, the dragon is associated with the Zodiac and was historically adopted by emperors as a symbol of their divine right to rule. Now, 2024 Colorized Australian Lunar White Dragon 1/2 oz Silver Coins are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each of the 2024 Colorized Australian Lunar White Dragon 1/2 oz Silver Coins offered here come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are housed in plastic capsules and feature unique colorization on the reverse to depict the White Dragon from Chinese culture.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2024 Colorized Australian Lunar White Dragon Silver Coin, the Perth Mint includes the final portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Late Majesty is shown in right-profile relief, wearing the George IV State Diadem. This portrait, created by Jody Clark in 2015, shows the Queen at the age of 89. Inscriptions read ELIZABETH II, 1952-2022, AUSTRALIA, 1/2 OZ 9999 AG, and 50 CENTS.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2024 Colorized Lunar White Dragon 1/2 oz Silver Coins depicts the Chinese dragon. This design features a dragon with white-blue scales on its belly and other vibrant colors across its back, shown chasing a flaming white pearl. The inscriptions on this side read DRAGON, 2024, the P125 mint mark, and the Chinese emblem for the dragon.
History
The use of the White Dragon as a symbol for the empress or imperial consorts created a symbolic balance with the emperor’s Golden Dragon. This distinction in dragon colors reflected the yin-yang concept, with white representing yin (feminine) and gold representing yang (masculine) in imperial iconography.
