Obverse
Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of the 2023 Proof Australian Lunar Rabbit Silver Coin. Her Majesty is depicted here in one of the final releases with her effigy. It was designed in 2015 by Jody Clark and captures the image of the Queen in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem. Inscriptions read ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 1/2 OZ 9999 AG, and 50 CENTS.
Reverse
In the reverse design of 2023 Lunar Rabbit 1/2 oz Silver Coins, you will find two rabbits. This design from Ing Ing Jong shows both rabbits beneath the branch with one rabbit seated and alert as the other stands up on its hind legs. Inscriptions on this side include the Chinese symbol for the rabbit, the P mint mark of Perth Mint, RABBIT, and 2023.
History
Ing Ing Jong created the two designs in use for the Year of the Rabbit in 2023. Ms. Jong joined Perth Mint in 2011 as an artist and created her first lunar designs in 2013 for the Year of the Snake in the Lunar Series II program.
