This imagery is surrounded by a decorative circle and a ring of garland. Atop the seal is a crown, while below it is the Niuean motto. Inscriptions on the obverse field read 2023, 25 DOLLARS.

Reverse

For the reverse of 2023 Niue Slovakia Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coins, a golden eagle is shown flying over the peak of Krivan. This magnificent design is credited to medal maker Martin Dasek, whose initials are shown just beneath it. Across the border of the reverse, there are inscriptions that read SLOVAKIA, 1/2 OZ AU 999.9.

History

So revered is the golden eagle in Slovakia that revolutionary Ludovit Stur called the culture section of the Slovak National Newspaper Orol Tatranski, which means Tatra Eagle. Slovak poets from the 1800s were also said to have a strong affinity for this bird of prey. Today, the golden eagle remains highly respected in Slovakia, where it is acknowledged as the countrys national bird.
