Obverse
The obverse side of each coin in the 2022 Proof American Women Quarter Sets includes a new bust of President George Washington. This image of the nations first president was actually designed in 1932 by Laura Gardin Fraser as a candidate for the redesigned US quarter, which at the time was to feature President Washington in honor of his 200th birthday. Though John Flanagans left-profile bust of the president was selected for the quarter and remains there today, this image from Fraser is a right-profile relief that makes a fitting choice for the American Women Quarters Series. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 2022, and the S mint mark of the San Francisco Mint.
Reverse
On the reverse of the coins in the 2022 US Mint Proof American Women Quarter Sets, you will find portraits of five different women. Each one of these women played a different role in American history, from being the first American woman to go into space to the first woman to serve as the Principal Chief of her indigenous tribal nation. Inscriptions on this side of the coins will vary, though UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and QUARTER DOLLAR will feature on all coins.
