The iconic characters of DC Comics have played an outsized role in pioneering the superhero archetype and making it a major part of the entertainment landscape over more than eight decades. Green Arrow — archer, detective, martial artist, and acrobat — has been in the front ranks of its roster of heroes since the early 1940s, and now joins the heroes commemorated by the New Zealand Mint’s DC Chibi series. Provident Metals is delighted to make the 2022 Niue Chibi Green Arrow Shaped 1 oz Silver Coin available to fans, collectors, and silver enthusiasts of all kinds.
The Emerald Archer is captured in pure silver and a playful Japanese caricature style with the 2022 Niue Chibi Green Arrow Shaped 1 oz Silver Coin. It comes in a themed display case that makes it easy to showcase this collectible directly upon arrival, along with a Certificate of Authenticity and the additional protection of a custom-designed acrylic case. Provident Metals fully insures your shipment against even the most remote possibilities of loss or damage.
The obverse side of this coin features a legal tender effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. It’s accompanied by inscriptions “Elizabeth II,” “Niue,” “2022,” and “2 Dollars.” It confirms the coin’s silver content as “1 oz 999 Fine Silver” and identifies “GREEN ARROW” as both copyright and trademark of DC Comics.
The coin’s reverse side is a shaped sculpture of Green Arrow in the Chibi or “little” caricature style, rendered in vivid colors and sporting a version of the character’s classic design dating back to 1969. The green arrow held in one hand alludes to the hero’s signature trick arrow arsenal.
Green Arrow originated as a bland of his pulp-inspired predecessor Batman and the far older mythical archetype Robin Hood, making his first appearance in 1941. He quickly grew into more than the sum of his sources, however, and became one of the most recognizable heroes of the DC Comics brand over a span of over eight decades. As one of the all-time greats of the Golden Age of comics and a steady presence in the decades after, he’s a natural subject for the celebration by the DC Chibi series.
