Highlights:
In 1986, Perth Mint introduced the coins now known as the Australian Kangaroos as the Australian Nugget. The gold bullion coins featured 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold coins, each with a different image of a gold nugget that had actually been discovered in Australia. Each weight had the same design each year, even though each weight had its own distinctive image. In 1990, the series became the Australian Kangaroo. Now, each coin shares the same design, but those designs change each year.
Obverse
On the obverse of 2022 Australian Kangaroo 1 oz Gold Coins is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown and is aged 89 in the depiction. The field includes inscriptions of ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 100 DOLLARS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2022 Australian Kangaroo Gold Coin features two kangaroos. This adult-joey pairing is shown leaping across the Outback, moving along the grassy terrain with ease. Inscriptions on this side of the coin read 2022 1 OZ 9999 GOLD, KANGAROO, the P mint mark of Perth Mint, and the NH initials of Neil Hollis.
History
