The kangaroo is the worlds largest living marsupial. With one of the most unique gaits of any animal, the kangaroo hops as its primary movement and uses its powerful legs to propel itself forward and balances its body with its muscular tail. The kangaroo has short forearms and has a pouch on its underbelly that it uses to carry and protect its young after birth.

Obverse

On the obverse of 2022 Australian Kangaroo Gold Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. Captured at the age of 89, Her Majestys portrait was created in 2015 by Jody Clark. The inscriptions on the obverse side of the coin include ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, and 15 DOLLARS.

Reverse

The reverse side of the 2022 Australian Kangaroo 1/10 oz Gold Coins comes with a new depiction of hopping kangaroos. This adult kangaroo is hopping along with its young joey on grassy plains. The distant horizon offers a view of hillocks, or small hills. The field includes inscriptions of 2022 1/10 OZ 9999 GOLD, KANGAROO, and the P mint mark of Perth Mint.

History

1/10 oz Gold Coins have been available in the Australian Kangaroo Series since 1990 when it transitioned from the Australian Nugget to feature kangaroos on the reverse. In 2022, the mintage of the 1/10 oz coin is capped at 200,000.
