Other details of the design include the U.S. Capitol Building, sun rays, and a ring of 50 stars. The inscriptions read LIBERTY and 2022.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2022 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin is an image of the head of the American bald eagle. Set in left-profile relief, the design shows the eagle with its powerful beak and steely-eyed gaze. The plumage of the bird is layered and intricately depicted. History
Jennie Norris created the bald eagle design that now features on American Eagle Gold Coins. Ms. Norris is a member of the United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program and her depiction of the eagle was chosen over more than 30 other possible designs as the replacement for the image from Miley Busiek.
