First used on the $20 Double Eagle Gold Coin, this image from Augustus Saint-Gaudens shows the figure of Liberty in front-facing relief walking forward with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left as sun rays frame her figure from behind. History
The new design from Jennie Norris was created in 2020 and debuted on the coins in mid-2021. After a double release in 2021 that featured coins with the original reverse and coins with the new reverse, 2022 marks the start of the programs future as the Jennie Norris design is now the only option available for the reverse.
