It took Leo Fender, founder of Fender, and Bill Carson, George Fullerton, and Freddie Tavares from 1952 to 1954 to perfect the design of the Stratocaster. When their work was done, a new and distinctive body shape came to guitars for the first time ever. With its double-cutaway design and an extended horn shape for improved balance, the Stratocaster broke the mold. It was the first mass-produced electric guitar that did not look like the old acoustic guitars. It has proven so popular over the decades that its names, Stratocaster and Strat, are both trademarked terms belonging to Fender. Countless manufacturers duplicate the look of the Stratocaster, often using terms like S-Type and ST-Type guitars to hype their products.

Obverse

On the obverse side of the 2021 Solomon Islands Fender Guitar Stratocaster Shaped Coin is a colorized field that duplicates with intricate detail the appearance of a Stratocaster guitar. The coins surface has a wood-like colorization down the neck with black-and-white colorization on the body. The inscriptions on this side of the coin include the 75th-anniversary logo for Fender that includes inscriptions of Fender, 75, 1946, and 2021. Other inscriptions include 1 oz 999.9 Ag.

Reverse

The reverse field of 2021 Solomon Islands Stratocaster Shaped Coins comes with a popular right-profile effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The Queens effigy is found along the body of the guitar and depicts the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The following inscriptions run down the neck of the guitar Elizabeth II, Solomon Islands, and 2 Dollars. Other inscriptions on this face include 2021 and the unique serial number from 0001 to 2500.

History

The Stratocaster is still in production today at Fender. One of its most popular guitar designs, it has been used by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bob Dylan, and George Harrison, just to name a few.
