History

Okapis are just one of many distinctive animal species that inhabit the African continent. The okapi has markings on its hindquarters similar to that of a zebra, but is actually a close relative of the giraffe. In fact, the okapi and giraffe are genetically related as the only living members of the Giraffidae family.
